More than 70% of mechanical and electrical products are expected to grow or remain flat this year
The first phase of the 124th Canton Fair, which is dominated by electromechanical and Minmetals chemical products, ended at the Pazhou Complex in Guangzhou on the afternoon of the 19th.
The relevant chamber of commerce pointed out on the same day that according to the survey, the export situation of China's electromechanical industry in the first phase of the Canton Fair was stable, and the export confidence of Minmetals chemical companies was strong. More than 80% of the surveyed electromechanical enterprises and more than 70% of the surveyed Minmetals chemical companies are expected to export better than or equal to last year.
China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Mechanical and Electrical Products said that after investigation, the uncertainty of the current steady growth of exports of the electromechanical industry increased. From the export volume in the first three quarters of 2018, 36.3% of the enterprises increased compared with the same period of the previous year, and the average was 50.8%. According to the quarterly order volume, 33.2% of the companies increased compared with the same period of last year, and 49.2% were flat. From the year of export in 2018, 38.1% of enterprises are expected to be better than the previous year, and 42.5% are expected to be flat.
The Chamber of Electromechanical and Mechanical Industry pointed out that the current "anti-globalization" with trade protectionism as a prominent feature continues to ferment in the world. Chinese enterprises expect that the export of mechanical and electrical products will face greater pressure in 2019. From the US customer orders received two days before the first session of the Canton Fair, 6% of the companies reported an increase from the same period of the previous year, and 67.8% reflected the same. From the perspective of exports to the United States in 2018, 10.5% of enterprises expect exports to the United States to be better than the previous year, and 67.5% are expected to be flat. The Minmetals Chemical Chamber of Commerce pointed out that in terms of China's plumbing, sanitary and ceramics industries, although the United States is the industry's first export market, it has been declining year by year in the past three years, and Chinese companies have gradually opened up new export markets. The United States still has high import dependence on China's plumbing sanitary wares, hardware and ceramic products. If it is imported from other countries in the short term, considering China's price, quality and capacity factors, China still has certain comparative advantages.
The Chamber of Commerce said that this year China's trade relations with emerging economies have been continuously strengthened, and the international market layout has been more optimized, which has provided strong support for China's exports. Judging from the overall judgment, China's long-term stabilization of foreign trade has not changed, and some markets have shown signs of recovery.
